Cinema from the Spectrum was founded in 2018 with the backbones of a former blog run by founder Jaime Rebanal; aiming to create a platform where people on the autism spectrum (or anyone neurodivergent) can share their perspectives on cinema. Since the formation of this site, we have always aimed to create a platform for neurodivergent people of all sorts to talk about their own love of cinema.
Starting out as a simple project led by Jaime Rebanal and Austin Shinn, with the help of Sheridan College’s radio station Sheridanlife Radio in podcast form, we have remained steadfast in our own love of cinema, and we aim to bring forth a balance in writing about films from the biggest studios to gems yet to be discovered en masse.
For us, cinema has never been about relishing only in the most popular films coming out, but as many of our writers are doing this out of love, we find that this is more than just a hobby for us. We hope that we can keep the conversations about such films growing, even when it all starts small.
